Election Resources for Ohio Manufacturers

Next week is Ohio’s primary election and while the Presidential primary seems to be set, several key races, including a contentious Senate primary, still hang in the balance. The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association has produced an Ohio-specific voter resource: The OMA Voter Toolkit.

With the primary winding down, the OMA has begun on the Ohio Election Guide 2024, which will catalog all Ohio statewide, Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Congressional, and statehouse races in a printed book format, as well as an online edition.

The Guide is distributed in hard copy – to all Ohio’s government officials, OMA’s government affairs community, and Statewide media contacts.

OMA Holds First Government Affairs Committee of the Year

On Tuesday, Mar. 5, the OMA hosted its first Government Affairs committee of 2024 to update members on statewide and federal issues concerning Ohio’s manufacturing industry.

Future Senate President and current Majority Leader Senator Rob McColley joined the committee to present an update on the Mar. 19 primary and Nov. 2 general election. 3/5/2024

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted Announce New Schaeffler EV Manufacturing Facility in Tuscarawas County

March 8, 2024

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced this week that Schaeffler, a pioneering force in the field of motion technology, will build a new manufacturing facility in Dover, bringing 650 jobs and $54 million in associated payroll to Wayne and Tuscarawas counties.

Schaeffler Group USA provides components for drivetrains in automotive, aerospace, and industrial applications. The Wooster location is home to R&D and manufacturing for Schaeffler’s automotive operations. Key customers include Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis.3/7/2024

Amgen Cuts Ribbon on Central Ohio Manufacturing Facility

This week, Amgen held the grand opening of a new cutting-edge facility in Central Ohio. The OMA was pleased to take part in celebrating another landmark in Ohio manufacturing.

The 300,000 sq ft facility will bring 400 well-paying, full-time local jobs, and $40 million in annual payroll, to the surrounding community, including roles for technicians and engineers. 2/25/2024

OMA Government Affairs Committee to Meet Next Week

March 1, 2024

On Tuesday, Mar. 5, the OMA’s Government Affairs Committee will meet for the first time this year.

Headlining the committee will be future Senate President, Senator Rob McColley, who will provide an update on the Mar. 19 primary election.

OMA Manufacturing Technology Grant Program Introduced in the House

March 1, 2024

This week, Representatives Nick Santucci (R -Sylvania) and Steve Demetriou (R – Bainbridge Township) introduced OMA’s Manufacturing Technology Assistance Program (MTAP) benefiting small to mid-sized manufacturers.

The grant initiative aims to help small to mid-sized manufacturers in Ohio modernize and innovate their production processes. Manufacturers with fewer than five hundred employees can receive up to $150,000 to invest in smart technologies, including machinery, equipment, and training, to enhance their productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness. The OMA is thankful to the representatives for their leadership. 2/27/2024
