Part of manufacturing’s growing skills gap can be attributed to an under representation of women in the industry. While women make up approximately half of the labor force, they account for only 29 percent of manufacturing workers. The Manufacturing Institute’s STEP Ahead awards program showcases the impact of women in science, technology, engineering and production (STEP) careers. Nominations for this year’s STEP Ahead Awards are open through October 5.
