Ohio Senate Passes Asbestos Claims Bill

05/30/2024

The Ohio Senate last week passed Senate Bill 63, which would protect Ohio manufacturers by reducing potential legal costs related to asbestos claims. The average number of defendants named in asbestos cases has tripled since the 1980s. OMA had previously provided testimony in support of the bill, which would prevent employers from being named as a defendant in asbestos cases without proof of exposure. The bill will now go to the Ohio House for consideration. 5/22/2024
