More than 80 members participated in this week’s OMA Safety and Workers’ Compensation Committee meeting, held virtually. Chaired by Matt Shurte, general counsel for Lancaster Colony Corporation, the meeting included a visit with Jim Hughes, chair of the Ohio Industrial Commission. Among other issues, Hughes addressed the commission’s return to in-person hearings, which begin July 6. Members were briefed on the latest OSHA developments — including the agency’s new focus on hearing protection — by Dianne Grote Adams, president of OMA Connections Partner Safex. David Nagle, chief supply chain officer for T. Marzetti Co., along with Karl Sommer, director corporate EHS, provided an inside look at the company’s successful effort to enhance workplace safety. The committee’s next meeting is set for Oct. 20. (We’re planning an in-person option for that event.) 6/22/2021
