When Employees on Unemployment Refuse Work

As the economy reopens, employers are expected to abide by state and local safety rules, and employees are expected to return to their previous employment if asked to do so and if there is not otherwise good cause for refusing to return to work. Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order Number 2020-24D, during COVID-19, there are five additional “good causes” for refusing suitable work. Employers can report individuals deemed ineligible for unemployment compensation using this Ohio Department of Job and Family Services online form. 3/30/2021
