Update:  On December 7, 2012, intervening parties, including the OMAEG, participated in a collaborative conference call will FirstEnergy. Due to the potential that the PUCO may not issue a ruling prior to the end of the year, FirstEnergy is seeking PUCO approval to extend its existing portfolio plan programs until a new portfolio plan is approved by the PUCO for 2013-2015. This action is a specific proposal that the OMAEG provided in its initial objections regarding FirstEnergy’s most recent proposed plan. Thus, the OMAEG supports the continuation of FirstEnergy’s existing energy efficiency and peak demand reduction programs because it will allow current applications and projects to proceed until the PUCO approves a new plan. It is likely that the PUCO will rule on FirstEnergy’s request next week. It is expected the PUCO will approve FirstEnergy’s request since there is no opposition and to rule otherwise would not advance any legitimate purpose.
